How to log on to the South Dakota Mines campus network

Introduction

Faculty, Staff, and students at South Dakota Mines are assigned a computer network account to aid their job and/or course work.

These accounts will remain active until you have left the school or you violate the ITS terms and conditions agreement.

  • Network Account:  This account allows you to access campus computers, file server resources, E-mailD2LSNAPOneDriveMicrosoft OfficeZoom, and SharePoint/Teams.
     
  • Student email:  This account is hosted by Gmail and is separate from your campus network login.  If you change your password for your student email it will not change the network account's password.

An internet-connected device with a web browser (Edge, Firefox, Chrome, or Safari)

Instructions

Logging In

  1. To log in to your office computer or student computer running Windows 10, press any key to open the login page and agree to the Acceptable Use Policy. 
  2. Log in with your email address and your network account password
  3. Students' default password is an 8-digit birth date and full ID number. 
  4. Faculty and staff will have DUO Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) enabled.  Click here to learn more about DUO MFA.

Changing your Password

  1. To change your network account password you will need a campus computer connected to the South Dakota Mines network. 
  2. Once logged in, press CTRL-ALT-DEL.   
  3. Next, click the "Change Password" button and follow the instructions on the screen.  
  4. Please note that passwords have a complexity requirement and cannot reuse old passwords.  Please contact the ITS Help Desk if you need assistance.

Storage Space

  1. All campus accounts now have access to 1TB of file storage using Microsoft's OneDrive.
  2. This app comes installed by default on Windows 10/11.
  3. Sign in with your South Dakota Mines email address and network password to get this setup.
