How to connect to wireless networks at South Dakota Mines

Introduction

There are three primary wireless networks at the South Dakota Mines campus:

  1. sdsmtwpa
The secured network is used by campus-owned computer systems only, such as staff computers and student laptops enrolled in the Student Laptop Program. Devices connected to this network are able to access protected network resources like shared drives and printers. Personal computers and mobile devices will not be able to connect to this network.

  2. sdsmtopn
Available for public access including personally-owned computers and mobile devices. Computers connected to this network can only access protected resources by connecting to the VPN .

  3. eduroam
Mainly for members of other SD Board of Regents schools to be able to connect to the Internet. Only a small number of connections are available for this network.
