How to upload a student
list and how to send emails or text messages

From your home screen click on the line icon on the left of your screen.

Under student lists click on New Student List to the
right in blue

This will bring up Adding New Student List Page

Create name of Student list
·
Make sure Do not show this list in
analytics dashboards is checked
·
Click Save Student List

Name it something you can reuse – if you want to use this
list to send out messages (test/ email) again after your first initial message
goes out. You can adjust the names in the list by adding or removing them to
fit your needs.

Your new list shows up in my saved items – student lists.

Click on the box to the left of the name
you want to add students too. Then go to actions (upper left), click on
drop down and pick upload student list.

NOTE – make sure you have a student list saved somewhere on
your computer that has a list of ids with a header student id’s etc. This list
must be saved as a .csv file. (Example on next page – I have blocked out the
ids in the example)

Upload file box will pop up – choose a list to add these
students to, use the drop-down arrow and find the name you just created and
click confirm



Next choose a file to upload – click choose file and find
your file on your computer.

Once you have found your file click on it – click on open –
this will place your file in the choose file section – next you will click
- Click to upload the file

This will bring up – Upload file to student list. You will
want to choose a column to import as student id. If you only have one column
like our example – then click on the drop down arrow and choose your
column – then click save to the right of your column name. This will be blue
after you have picked your column.

Once you have clicked save - you will get a message like
this below and you should click on your file name and it will take you
to your file with the students you just uploaded.

Names and Id’s have been blocked out for this training
purpose.

Next click the box to the left of Name to select all of your
students you want to send an email or text message to. This will put a check
box to the left of all names.

Next click the arrow to the right of actions and click send
a message to student.

This will bring up your dialog box for you to either fill out
for an email or for a text message.
REMEMBER – text
message only has 160 character limit – we recommend using emails unless the
text message is sweet, short and to the point.
You will see at the top of the message page how many
students you have selected to receive these messages. Email will act as a BCC and text will be one person at a time
text not a group text.
As always you have a subject line (names have been blocked
out in the example)

Body of message with helpful merge tags you can use – just
click on the the … to bring up your merge tags – then click on the arrow
to the right of merge tags to insert into your email body.

At the bottom you can choose a file if you want to send a
file to all recipients. This should be a generic file not a file that has
multiple students on it for all to see.
You can also add additional emails to be notified of the email
you are sending.

Once you are done you will click send message.
NOTE: Please make sure this is
what you want to send before you click the send button at the bottom of the
page.

Sending a text message: (names have been blocked out)
You will skip the email portion and go directly to the send
text tab.

Remember you can only send a 160
character text message.
Click Send Message if you are confident you are ready to
send your message.
If you need to modify your students just click cancel
and then you can remove students from the list, if you need to, by clicking on
the box to the left of their name, go to actions and click remove
from student list. Then follow instructions in this instruction manuel to
send emails or text messages.
