How to upload a syllabus

Introduction

This article provides faculty with steps to upload their course syllabus to the Getting Started Widget on D2L.

Environment

An Internet-connected device with a web browser (Edge, Firefox, Chrome, or Safari).

Instructions

  1. Ensure your syllabus accurately reflects the course schedule and your expectations. This will help keep students on track.
     
  2. Log into D2L and access your course.
     
  3. Locate the “SDSMT Getting Started” section of the course homepage (top-left corner).
     
  4. Click the down arrow, then select Edit this widget.

     
  5. Click on the Content tab.

     
  6. Using your mouse, select/highlight the text “Syllabus”. Next, click the ”play” button (on the far left).

     
  7. In the pop-up window, click My Computer.

     
  8. Click Choose File. This will open your computer’s file explorer.

     
  9. Locate your syllabus (whether it’s in Documents, Downloads, on your Desktop, etc.), select it with your mouse, then click Open.

     
  10. Click Upload.

     
  11. In the “Link Text” text box, type “Syllabus”, then press Insert.

     
  12. At the bottom of the page, click Save and Close.

     
  13. Your syllabus is now uploaded into your course shell.
